Bangsaphan, the nearest town, is small but quite busy with a fixed market and other markets most days. There  are 2 Tescos, 6 banks, the ever-present 7/11s with their attendant ATMs and most other purchases may be made in town. For specialist shopping residents tend to go to Hua Hin which is 200 km or Chumphon (100 km). Annual visas are usually extended in Hua Hin and 90 day reports in Prachuap (100 km).
There is also a medium sized Government hospital, which has just been extended, and an emergency unit.Suan Luang Beach is, as yet, a hardly developed holiday area and there are a few small resorts with Beach Bungalows, two Hotels and a few bars and restaurants so this is an ideal location for anyone who wants peace and quiet and not the hustle and bustle of big towns with traffic jams and crowded beaches. This property is 2 or 3 km to the south of Suan Luang Beach and is on a long beach road with only 3 or 4 other houses. In the Suan Luang area there are, maybe, 40 or 50 foreign residents and languages to be heard, beside Thai, are English, French, and German with the occasional Scandinavian or Dutch.
